It was clear that he was running an uncomfortable oxygen deficit, trying desperately to avoid having to sit do wn and breathe hard while he posed for the photo op. My best guess is that his lung capacity is less than 50%, and probably much l ower. Some of this will be permanent and some will be recovered.

Loss of lung capacity can be due to odema (build up of fluid in the lung), which is reversible. Covid-19 can rip up a lot of the surface of the lung, which is harder to fix.

Fat chance that he'd pay any attention, and fat chance that he needs to be told. Pretending to be well takes a lot of effort.

Not a useful observation. Being sick doesn't do you any good at all, and th e sicker you are, the harder it is for you to stay alive long enough for yo ur immune system to beat the infection (particularly when your immune syste m is competing for increasingly scarce resources).

There are still some things they can do to save his life. One established f uture therapy they should get to work on immediately is separating out a sa mple of his vital t-lymphocytes, while he still has them, and doing a massi ve cloning replication for a future transfusion. They can also start preparations for a stem cell infusion directly to his l ungs in the hopes of regenerating alveoli otherwise permanently lost. This therapy has also been shown to be successful just recently- in animal tests IIRC- but when you're backed up against the grave, anything is worth a try .

I don't find that. Got a link?

I guess he needs a couple of Ricky's ventilators.

Wishful and hateful thinking. He looked pretty perky to me walking down the front stairs of the hospital. He just tapped the handrail a couple of times.

I heard a short interview with his MD who said that his blood oxygen level dipped to 95% a couple of times. 95 per cent! According to CNN,

94% is fatal.

Total bull- that bunch lies for a living. I wouldn't believe a word they sa y. Journalists, especially announcer types, are idiots, at least here in Ameri ca. That is entirely expected from this disease. Others who had a "mild" case report significantly lower physical abilities for weeks or months. You don 't have to be put in a hospital to know you are very ill compared to the "f lu".

I'm not terribly worried about the care he is receiving. I'm worried that no one has invoked the 25th amendment and allowed him time to rest and reco ver. If a crisis arises that requires prompt action a delay because Trump is not fit may take time that is not at hand.

Being sick does not make him less fit to be elected to a second term, but i t may well make him too sick to effectively govern now. This guy is in cha rge of the entire military including nuclear weapons. If he isn't close to 100% he needs to step down until he is better.

You don't need to be an MD and an epidemiologist to notice that somebody is breathing hard. John Larkin does specialise in wishful thinking, and he's remarkably prone to see what he wants to see - and he clearly wants to see Trump as a successful egomaniac, likely to be re-elected to give out even m ore tax cuts the the undeserving.

Trump does specialise in giving video opportunities to prime time televisio n. I didn't see it on the TV news last night, but that did happen to coinci de with my once a month NSW IEEE executive committee meeting.

It would appear you are judging others by yourself. You are hunkering down and wearing your mask and having your offices disinfected at night. Why? Because unlike the President you are afraid of catching this virus. You a re one of the frightened wusses.

I don't get why you judge others for doing just what you are doing.
