Firing squad in Utah, IIRC. How fitting - and fully deserved for this hard Left, skinny, hate-filled punk.

Are people getting crazier lately?

For a bit of objectivity, I asked AI and it's no misperception. I don't know how old you are, but I remember there was a string of political assassinations in the US during the 60s. However, by the early 70s, we seemed to have left that all behind, thankfully, for the next 40+ years (barring that one attempt on the Gipper in about '81). But now it seems it's back. The atmosphere is febrile and it's not just in America. We need to remember that open debate is the only way to move forward constructively. Have a civilized argument and don't get mad if you come off worse 'cos it's probable your ideas just don't stand up to scrutiny. Otherwise we risk becoming a banana republic like you see in places like Africa and S. America.

Your hate filled punk sounds a lot less crazy than the more or less continuous stream of people who shoot school children in the USA.

Trump isn't upset about someone getting shot, he's upset about someone who helped him win the election getting shot.

Trump's tweet/Xcretion, truth or whatever it was, complaining about the number of people dying in this spate of shootings listed only those that are his supporters. It seems he doesn't give a flying f*ck about someone attacking Paul Pelosi with a hammer, the Minnesota Shooting of a democrat law maker and her husband or the Plot to Kidnap Governor Whitmer. In fact he even referred to the group as "good people" at one point and publicly considered pardoning the men involved in the plot.

Plus, lets not forget the violent mob that invaded your Capitol intent on hanging someone. He pardoned every one of them.

Trump is 100% a hypocrite and is full of s*it.

Why would *anyone* give a FF about people who have openly encouraged political violence against them? Trump isn't St. Francis of Assisi; he's only human. Pelosi et al are *vile* creatures who spouted the hate that lead to all these killings and attempted assassinations. It was the hard Left started this, let's not forget.

There's not much evidence to suggest that Trump qualifies as human. He'd have to be able to learn stuff to meet that test.

What a load of nonsense. Pelosi is a perfectly conventional US politician - if less right wing than Trump - who has never spouted any hate at all.

What "hard left"? Bernie Sanders is about as left wing as American politicians get, and his dangerous radicalism is to suggest the the US can afford the same sorts of levels of social security as Europe has had for decades now.

Trump does talk about the "hard left" in America, but the US hasn't had any political movement that looked politically left wing since the wobblies (who were "the international workers of the world"). One of my wife's academic acquaintances had been a card carrying member of the US communist party until 1956, when the Russian invasion of Hungary destroyed the myth of "international communism" but she didn't preach class hatred, any more that Bernie Sanders does.

The non-existent "hard left" hasn't started anything. They are figments of Donald Trump's diseased imagination, and only gullible suckers like you take him seriously.

And the USA. At least in Brazil they put Bolsonaro in prison for 27 years for plotting a coup after he'd lost an election.

Trump hasn't been prosecuted for trying to pull much the same stunt in January 2020, and - now that he is back in power - he is going after the people who were putting together a case against him for the damage he did back in 2020.

Banana republics got that title because US fruit importers would use their political influence to get the US to endorse military coups that put regimes in power that would discourage banana growers from protesting about US exploitation.

Iran is the most dramatic example - the 1953 coup that installed the Shah was orchestrated by the US and UK in the interests of their oil importers. Bananas are oil, but the principle (or lack of it) is identical.

Okay, let's call them the 'Rabid Left' then. I'm talking of the creatures who inhabit the Bluesky platform and were not only overcome with unbridled joy at Charlie's murder, but were calling for it to be the starting gun for a new murderous purge of anyone not sharing their bizarre and toxic delusions. The fact that they exist but you cannot admit that undeniable fact speaks volumes about your fundamental honesty (or lack thereof).

I'd never heard of Bluesky.

suggests that it is an improved version of Twitter. I'm prepared to believe that all kind of nutcases post there - the fact that you know about it pretty much proof of that - and that they are the sort of people who aren't sane enough to form an effective political party - Trump is a prime example of the breed - and they will presumably parade their lunatic ideas there.

I'm perfectly prepared to believe in the existence of all kinds of lunatic nutcase, but only other lunatic nut cases - such as you - take them seriously.

Some of the more lunatic examples are demented enough to shoot other people, and sane societies take precautions against them getting guns. The USA isn't an example of such as society.

Nancy Pelosi isn't remotely lunatic enough to be a member of that group.

I imagine that the country in which you are hiding out is more careful. I look forward to your posts from preventive detention.

When Cuba was being exploited by greedy american corporations is was the wealthist country in Latin America. Since Castro liberated it, it's about the poorest.

Now Cuba imports sugar.

The US blockaded Cuba...read your history.

The US gov was pissed off with Cuba for having a successful revolution against the wealth landowners. Inertia has continued the embargoes.

Perhaps you also remember Pinochet and how and why he came to power?

Your country hasn't a stellar record on supporting people's freedom to chose their own government...

The blockade lasted 13 days in 1962, to keep Soviet nukes out of Cuba.

Cuba is free to trade with the entire rest of the world, but they still can't keep the lights on.

The level of corruption of Pelosi and for that matter Trump would earn a dead penalty in China, but this is in the realm of "law and order". The penalties are pointed out in Chinese law.

The greedy American corporations exported to the US. Once they'd been kicked out, the US refused to import anything from Cuba and made it difficult for Cuba to sell stuff to anybody else

The US trade embargo means that the processing machinery at the sugar refineries can't be maintained - 24 are still working, but 29 others aren't.

The US attitude seems to be that if they can't rip off the Cuban economy, nobody else is going to.

That wasn't the only kind of blockade imposed. Cuba isn't remotely free to trade with the rest of the world.

Because the USA blockades it.

The embargo is permanent.

My Cajun daddy-in-law was a sugar cane farmer in Louisiana and owned a share in a local co-op sugar mill. That was interesting. We could fill up buckets with turbinado sugar, the amber-colored first-press unprocessed stuff. It was great. I still cook with turbo and it's great in coffee.

He had a self-propelled cane cutter machine that was a fast as 50 guys with machetes. The only time they would cut by hand was if a hurricane had tangled the cane too much for the cutter to work right.

I suppose that Cubans can't set up co-op mills. The Party owns everything, and that's all rotting.

Cuba's most important export is its best people.

Vive la revolution!

(with proper accent marks)

An embargo is not a blockade. Cuba can trade with europe, china, russia, venezuela, iran.

Communism always wrecks economies and kills people.
