I don't think so. You were just breaking me in with eggs and grits. ;)

The current fad round here is apple-wood cured bacon, which is actually fairly boring. The old-line meat packers make the best bacon--Oscar Mayer especially.

It all tastes like Velveeta. :( An old friend used to say that she cooked with Velveeta "because it melts so beautifully." (No reference to the taste, naturally.)

As Rodney Dangerfield put it, "My wife dresses to kill. She cooks the same way." ;)

Cheers

Yeah a more liquidy beef bullion. My jar lists ingredients as, Roast beef, reduced beef stock, salt.... (other stuff) You don't spread it on bread, but add it to beef sauces or gravies that need more salt.

My egg techniques are far more sophisticated now. Grits is just grits, either white or yellow.

We like toasted Tartine sourdough with breakfast. The problem becomes, that's all you want to eat.

Agree on that. Boars Head has some good stuff too. Thick sliced of course.

Tillamook is better than the greasy cheese-similar Kraft material.

There is an excellent parmesan from Wisconsin, Sartori I think, that's as good as Regiano in most cases.

Funny.

There's even remains of a Roman era garum factory in the Lisbon area. It was a huge export from the Iberian peninsula.

It's interesting how some commodies that are far from essential such as tobacco, coffee and sugar led to massive changes for millions of folks (such as slavery in the Americas).

Would like to go back to Portugal when it becomes safe again. Walking up the coast to Galicia was one of the most enjoyable experiences in my life so far.

Some believe....the youth of the Eastern Block were as instrumental in the fall of communism as Reagan, they wanted their imported Skid Row records and to get wild and crazy:

Follow up question for JL and PH. Why Mo?

Just an aside. I had an uncle who called his wife 'TED' for years - until she found out what it meant.

It's a common nickname for Maureen.

We had a temp worker for a few months, a caterer who had no business during the lockdown so we gave him a job. He was Mo too, short for Mohammed.

Sounds disrespectful to The Prophet to me.

Not all people named Mohammed (or variants thereof) are practising Muslims. And not all practising Muslims are as fussy as you might think

- they may prefer their prophet to be named correctly, while being happy for their own name to be abbreviated.

(The only "Mo" I knew as an Iranian guy whose full name was Mohammed. How common such an abbreviation is, I have no idea.)

The cartoons tend to be inspired by events, and can be extremely incisive.

Having said that, the latest one is definitely sub par.
