OT: Medical equipment question

Maybe she got into a really bad accident as a little girl and hears through her nose?

Most likely there was a tank somewhere that you didn't see, and that was the regulator.

Do you need to implement control loops in software?
"Applied Control Theory for Embedded Systems" was written for you.

Just wondering. Today, I was walking downtown and I saw an older lady standing, fiddiling with what appeared to be an older generation iPod (a white box about that size). As I approached, I could see tha the box was connected via wires or tubing to some sort of clip on one side of her nose.

I was thinking about one of those oxygen generators, but the smallest I've ever seen was about the size of a small briefcase.

What was it?

Recording EKG, perhaps?

Probably a "24-Hour Esophageal pH Test". You get the joy of inhaling a probe through your nose and have a nurse "gently" shove it down your throat. Then you walk around with this recorder and tell it when you eat, when you feel heartburn, etc.
