How many days since the Surgery?

Was your case typical of how they normally go?

Nice Job. Looks like a CR radiograph. No full field digital plate?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Looks like it fits niceley, how does it feel? Two more questions:

1) How did they fit the socket to your hip bone, was it done by hand or robot? 2) How long of a cut did they have to make?

Surgery was October 31, so 3 weeks ago.

Pretty much, though, at 67, they called me the "baby" of the group done that day.

It's not a terribly pleasant experience... lot of pain during motion the first day or two... my next door neighbor (in hospital) was a screamer ;-)

I have no idea what a "full field digital plate" is. They gave me a CD of before/after X-rays.

Thanks! Same for you and yours!

I have no idea, though if you surf the Stryker site you can see some tools resembling small jack hammers ;-)

Indeed! No more hip pain! Just have to retrain my leg muscles... they've been compensating for so long that they're stretched the wrong ways :-(

Jim;

Congrats on the hip replacement. My college mentor, now age 87, has had 5 of them - two on each side, with one product recall. He had the last one at age 83, and drove out to meet us for lunch two weeks after he went in. He claims they get easier simply because they cut through so many nerves that going back in is relatively painless.

Question though in your Xray. What is the rectangular piece in the center of the film, just below the bottom of the pelvis? Looks like a chip. Did they give you and RFID implant?

I wondered about that myself ;-)

They had me empty my pockets and took the films while I still had my clothes on... I think it's the part of the pant's zipper.

Thanks!

A CR (computed Radiography) is a scan of some sort of image media that is erasable. I see the media corners in your x-ray, so it most likely CR. More expensive systems have a full 11x14" sensor as the image receptor. Fantastic dynamic range. Usually you can see the hardened deposits in the arteries on older people. Yours looks pretty good ;)

And photoshop out the rest? ;-)

Doctor: You need a $15,000 operation.

Patient: I can't afford that much!

Doctor. I can retouch your X-rays for $75.

Thanks. That friend is going in Monday after Thanksgiving. She's planning on being back at work in 6 weeks. Looks doable if she doesn't have complications.

OWWWW that look like all hell, but if they replaced an old hip joint, that probably looked worse. Best Wishes
