OT: Living in AZ

Where I first went to college, there was a state highway 69 nearby. The road dept. finally gave up replacing the signs and changed the number.

Route 666? What numbers are 'too biblical'? Or, thinking about it, what numbers aren't? Many numbers are mentioned in there somewhere.

I was brought up near the A666, which runs from Irlam's-o'th-Height to Blackburn via Bolton. Projectile vomiting was limited to closing time on a Saturday night.

You REALLY shouldn't come to Arizona...

It's cooler in hell.

We're running out of water.

House prices have been Californicated.

We're overrun by Injuns and Mexicans, etc, etc...

Geez - you left out a reason: there's an awful lot of RF, at least in one area ... if you live there, you need an aluminium foil hat. :-) 'Course if you did live nearby, you just might run into someone who knows a thing or three about it ...

With the interesting gotcha that since they don't issue CCW permits, there's no reciprocity in other states.

I haven't heard that one - required carry, perhaps? :-)

Richard

Exactly.

No permit required for posession or carry, though a permit is available on request, precisely for reciprocity.

For the low-down on the various states:

Here's a recent example of what you get when you run an election like this.

As you might have guessed, I'm a ham radio operator. One of our concerns is broadband over power line (BPL) the foolish attempt to deliver Internet connectivity by putting rf on unshielded power lines.

I wrote Raul an email in the first part of July asking him to cosponser House Resolution 230, which would make certain demands on the FCC re this issue. I explained that I am a ham, an engineer retired from Hughes and a resident of his district.

Yesterday I received a (poorly written) letter over his signature thanking me for contacting him, telling me what good guys he thinks we hams are and promising to think about and maybe (but not likely) support -H.R. 1478-, an entirely different bill that has nothing to do with BPL.

The voters really do get the represention they deserve.

Then there's socialism at its finest:

"Gun owners in Toronto may soon be prohibited from keeping their firearms at home even if they are properly licensed and registered, Mayor David Miller said yesterday."

Another reason to give thanks to our founding fathers for the revolution.

It's curious that when Arizona was considering its concealed carry permit the Sarah Brady crowd was besides themselves and predicting that the streets would be running red with blood.

The reality is that nothing of the sort happened and there hasn't been one case of an individual with a concealed carry permit committing any weapons related crime. The program has been so successful, (uneventful) that the legislature recently relaxed the requirements.

Actually, now that I think about it, there have been a few gun related crimes committed by people who were permitted to carry concealed weapons, but those folks were all cops.
