Yes, I've been told how it is virtually impossible for EVs to be home charged in much of the UK. Seems they don't even have room to park cars much less charge them.

Yeah, I know. So the UK will have to continue to burn coal in their autos.

What is wrong with renewables for auto charging? Sure seems like a win/win to me. Charge when the sun shines or charge when the wind blows. Then run off battery for days. Yeah, that sure sounds to me like it works and is an amazingly good match.

Lessee... 1.5M prisoners times roughly 100W/head, 150MW. As much as a smallish coal plant at best. That doesn't contribute a whole lot.

And the loincloth budget would be excessive.

The main problem with this type of generation is energy storage. How long are you going to be able to run your house off such a battery? We need a quantum leap in battery technology (for cars as well).

Yeah, those EVs can barely reach from home to work to home to work to home to work to home to work to home to work to home again without needing a charge. Oh, wait! They can...

So what are you going on about? They are beating on batteries of all sorts as we speak. Today's batteries have proven themselves for utility and auto applications. In a very few years today's lab queens will be in cars and utility sites in huge numbers. In 10 years we probably won't recognize EVs as being anything other than the norm and will wonder why anyone is still burning dinosaurs. Of course Larkin will be driving miles to find a place to fuel his Owdie while others charge their EVs at home. Sad... truly sad.

EV batteries as they currently exist are just tomorrow's environmental disaster. Not just that, but the push to reliance on electrical energy will push millions of low-paid workers further into fuel poverty when they freeze to death in the winter because they can't afford to heat their homes.

I feel bad for you. Let me know when you get cold and I send you a certificate for a gallon of gas... if you can find a place that still sells gas.

Imagine your kids telling their grandkids how there used to be a gas station on every street corner and their grandkids ask, "What's a gas station"? You won't need to tell them they are the source of MTBE in their drinking water even then.
