I would mildly regret that AVG decided to go pay only. Thank goodness that ClamAV will always be free, and open source. I have seen ClamAV find malware that Norton/Symantec, McAfee, and AVG missed. It was Kerio that caught the net traffic to alert me to the malware. It was a blended virus / trojan.

But *nix only?
Read what was actually said. There were _rumours_that AVG might go pay only, but it has turned out that it is support for the current version 7.1, which is being dropped. You can upgrade to 7.5, and carry on as a free user.
Best Wishes
It is still free. Can't you read? They are phasing out version 7.1, but the new 7.5 is still FREE for personal use. After January there will be no more updates for 7.1, so you have to download and install

Is there a version of that for Windoze? All I see is .tar.gz downloads, which Windoze has never even heard of. Since I'm running Linux, what do I need AV S/W for? Linux is already anti-virus! :-)
Thanks, Rich
There should be, Rich. I am running it on both my home computers, but then, I did decide to pay for it...

Not at all. It was a MSWin platform that was infected, ran ClamAV, and was cleaned. (Admin privileges required to clean)
