OT: Does anyone have Milliken Legato carpet tiles?

Nothing a vacuumcleaner can't handle. I'd keep the concrete as it is. Maybe you want to install porcelain tiles later which is probably incompatible with the primer.

Definitely not there. Also, prorcelain tiles are best laid over a membrane anyhow, which I did everywhere here except in very small areas such as bathrooms. No membrane -> crack.

sounds like sub-standard cement unless this is a green (fresh) slab.

assuming by non-solvent you mean water soluble:

there's a a few different brands of PVA (wood-glue) like concrete sealers available, AFAIK no one stands out. i have used concre-bond in the past, no idea if it's available in USA.

Except in special cases where there are specific architectural concerns, many layouts start in a corner to confine the cuttings to a minimum number of walls / transitions.

That often ends up looking bad. It looks better if there are no "tiles" less than half-sized, so the first row may be a half square. Worse, if the walls aren't square (nothing is perfect) you can end up with wedges on one side, which looks ghastly.

Yep, "ghastly".

I once laid tile down a hallway (around 30' long x 4' wide) that was

1" wider from beginning to end. I fudged the spacings as I went, fools the eyes completely.

Likewise added a dividing wall between a wide-open entry hall and the family room. (Wife was nursing and didn't like anyone coming to the front door could see all the way into the house.)

Prefabbed the studs, stood it up, set it _exactly_ plumb. Walked down the hall to the head. Walking back... "ghastly", my wall looked tilted :-(

Turned out the adjacent hallway wall was out of plumb maybe a 1/2".

Tapped mine out-of-plumb till it "looked" perfect, then nailed it down ;-)

That's the easy way. Only slightly harder is to cut the tiles the right size. ;-) Of course there is usually base molding to cover all sins. ;-)

Never understood that. It's quite common here in the South. Of course, in the North people in the great room would all freeze in the Winter. ;-)

Yep, artists don't use levels. ;-)

I had a bathroom wall out 1" in 7' (low ceilings). The vanity on that wall never looked right. When I sold the house, I screwed a matching magazine rack to the vanity, next to the wall. It looked like it was supposed to be there all along. It was useful. ;-)

You can't tell it from the pictures I've posted, but my outdoor BBQ is on a slight down-hill slope... so the stainless access doors are set level (so they operate properly) and look _just_ a little weird ;-)

Just got the results back from the CT Scan... my abdominal/groin pain... the other hip joint is the cause, and must be replaced... polio degeneration effects are just so ducky over time :-(

All I need now is servos and I'll be robotic ;-)

Doors out of plumb don't work so well.

That's good news, I guess. At least you know what's in store for you.

Well you will be a bit faster, but I think there's an eye involved too. ;-)

I'm not worried. You'll be running under Vista. ;-)
