Thank Europe and their squabbling for that.

China thanks the USA in its efforts to bankrupt itself

:

amnesty :a period during which a law is suspended to allow offenders to admit their crime without fear of prosecution

The main man there was not only not prosecuted, but he was invited to come live and work in the US

Then, obviously, since others weren't afforded the same "courtesy", in the same time period, it wasn't amnesty.

We didn't need his work.

Oh yeah- right. The mental midgets in Washington and the US military high command are hardly credible authority when it comes to assessing the capability of Allied microbiologists to reproduce the work....

Summary execution to send a strong message of deterrence that this kind of 'work' will not be tolerated.

What I said in another group a couple of weeks ago:

I don't see any reason to change any of that...

Chris

China has loaned us trillions of dollars so we could buy all that stuff from them. We'll pay them back in cheap inflated dollars, if we pay them at all, and keep the stuff. And then charge them trillions for food.

They just don't understand capitalism.

Maybe they understand that it doesn't work as well as your right-wing newspapers like to claim, and are confident that a more rational approach to the broad control of the economy - of the kind that Keynes had in mind - is going to leave them so far ahead of the game that minor cheating by your government isn't going to save your bacon.

At the moment, the Chinese regime does look rather Keynesian - leaving the market to micro-manage the economy to direct specfic investment into the most profitable areas, while dictating the broad lines of investment into education and industrial development. And they aren't spending anything like as much as the US on "defence".

Well, if you want to choose slavery, knock yourself out; personally, I prefer Free Will, risks and all.

You really can't escape Free Will - even when you choose to be a slave, it's you who makes that decision and decides to whom you subjugate yourself.

And if your lord and master tries to impose his nefarious intent on the USA, please remind him that we have guns and know how to use them.

Good Luck! Rich

After that it went downhill

Korea: fail Vietnam: fail Iraq: fail Iraq: fail (again) Afghanistan: fail

Actually there is an interesting movie about the US involvement in getting the Sovjets out of Afghanistan called 'Charlie Wilson's War' (

Failure does not prove something is impossible, failure simply indicates you are not using the right tools... nico@nctdevpuntnl (punt=.) --------------------------------------------------------------

That's typical of the superior and smug attitude that's got us into the state we are in now. China knows exactly what they are doing. They don't have to expand their influence through force. Much to old world and crude. No, they just do it by beating us at our own capitalist game.

With the us technically insolvent and much of europe in the same state, what will it take to convince us that we will have to work much harder and smarter to compete with the developing world ?.

I always thought you were pretty smart, John, but you aren't seeing the big picture at all, fwics...

Sorry time warp failed, will be some more time on slow link. Sorry if it caused any instability in the earth crust. Sometimes happens when I get angry.

Recharging warp drives will take a while before I can do an other try.

I'm not sure they are "beating" us. Their economic game plan is cheap currency, stolen IP, and slave labor. What I don't understand is why they don't spread the wealth domestically, but instead buy US treasuries.

Compete? Why?

Maybe you are using a different metric for success than I am. I figure that the general welfare and happiness of the population is what a successful civilization delivers, and workers crammed into dorms, commiting suicide from despair, being beat up if they complain, ain't it.

John

The S. Koreans wouldn't agree. Communism stopped (Korea) Mostly a win

A forfeit after the game was called

Time out

Win

Not even half-time

...and your point?

Granting your limited intellectual capacity, your free will is exactly equivalent to tossing a coin. You'd probably do better under slavery - a self-interested master would make better choices about the substances that you imbibed.

Slavery is usually imposed, rather than chosen.

As far as I know, I don't have a lord and master. My wife does persuade me to reconsider my decisions from time to time, but I've also been known to persuade her to reconsider hers.

Thus there is nobody to inform that the citizens of the USA have guns, and that some of them think they know how to use them. The US certainly doesn't have a citizen army in the sense that Switerland and Israel do, and I doubt if anybody contemplating invading or otherwise taking over the USA would spend much time worrying about lightly armed insurrections of demented right-wingers.

Some might see it as an advantage - where else could you rely on the lunatic fringe to aggregate themselves into a concentrated mob which you could mow down with with a few units of mechanised infantry?

Oh, bullshit. It was a rout. Don't you remember seeing the images of the people clinging to the helicopter struts escaping from the roof of the embassy?

Nixon resigned over it.

I was there. (well OK, next door in Thailand.)

Hope This Helps! Rich

Because they can?

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when they realize that the dollars they're being paid back with are worth a fraction of the dollars they lent, and foreclose.

Cheers! Rich

Not surprisingly, you don't remember history.

You are *still* on drugs. I suppose you don't remember "Watergate".

So what? You're a druggie.

Actually, China only loaned us a little less than 1 trillion, maybe

800 billion, not much out of a 14 trillion debt. But what I don't understand is the one-third of the debt owed by the government to itself. How do you owe yourself money?

Are you just an alias of Sloman? Don't like the facts, so go ad hominem?
