There's been some talk of various vendors building "voice databases". Of course, it's not a big step for the gummit to subpoena those "in the public interest" and start using them to identify speakers in telephone conversations, "audio monitored" locations, etc.
[IIRC, the elevators in the parking garages at O'Hare are thusly monitored]If you apply simple logic to it, the fact that someone WANTS it means it has intrinsic value. So, at the very least, you should consider being COMPENSATED for this thing that is being "taken" from you.
This is why I built my own thermostat. Internet connectivity with no cloud, and it can do the weird functions I want it to do.
