Mixer diodes on a Tek 2710 spectrum analyzer

Sep 18, 2005 2 Replies

Any reason those new $2 Schottky lot threshold quads (or a MiniCircuits Labs equivalent) can't be used for the main 2 GHz mixer in a Tek 2710?

The real part seems outrageously expensive and hard to find.

Matching? Packaging? Carrier lifetime?

Drop an email to Luis Cupido (cupido (at) mail.ua.pt) and see what he says. He has replaced the Tek 492 series mixer diodes with aftermarket parts (I believe from Metelics) with great results.
