I didn't have a chance to fuss with the erector sets. My Dad kept me busy with Comet kits Balsa wood rubber band models and 049 control-line models. Winter was the typical Lionel Train setup and AFX racing track. Maintenance seemed to be the highlight to keep things running ;)

I forgot to mention blowing a small hole in a concrete driveway with a gunpowder-ish concoction made from the chemistry set. It was taken away from me for a week thereafter...
