Looking for a Gigabit Ethernet Controller Chip

Hello, I'm hoping someone out there can help suggest an easy to use/configure Gigabit Ethernet Controller chip. I want to have an Gigabit Ethernet port on my board and I want the chip to do the GMAC and the SERDES. I've looked at the L8104 from LSI but that is obsolete now. I have found one from PMC-Sierra the PM3387 that looks good. I've seen a lot of controllers that have the PCI express interface but I'm not doing PCI express. I plan to interface with the controller with my FPGA. If anyone can suggest a simple controller, please let me know.

thanks, joe
