If it was 1 Ohm, you would only be able to get 1.5A out of it.
I don't know about AA's, but you can get a couple of hundred amps from a NiCd D cell. But it has to be an "industrial" type; consumer versions have the internal resistance deliberately increased to limit the short-circuit current.
