Lithium-Ion Battery Advice

Hi All,

I am using a Lithium Ion battery, the Sanyo UF103450P, in a back-up application where it is nearly never discharged and topped up once every couple of months when it needs it (dues to self discharge)... My question concerns the operating temperature. Every now and then the temperature can creep up to 45C and during the summer, on hot days I expect it may get a little warmer and I worry about what would happen if the temperature exceeds

60C, its maximum rated temperature during discharge (for some reason it only has a 50C rated storage temperature?). Is it likely to be unsafe or will it just shorten the life of the battery over the long term? I monitor the temperature during charge/discharge, so am only worried about it during when it is sitting idle.

Any comments are as always, greatly appreciated...

Best regards,

AJ

To even begin thinking about solving the problem i would need all of the patented and trade secret data on the battery. Oh, and i might have to go get a PHD in chemistry along the way, on your dime. Of course, you could try pestering the manufacturer until they geek the data you need.
