I sometimes find myself wishing for a linear regulator with a low quiescent current and a wide input voltage range. LDO is nice but often not essential. IIRC I asked in s.e.d. a long time ago but the suggestions were expensive and/or were impossible to get for me.
I've recently discovered a range of such regulators by the Taiwanese company Holtek. I don't know if they're well known in the west but some of their products are quite popular with hobbyists on this side of the globe.
The regulators have max input voltages up to 40V, Iq of 1 to 4uA. The datasheets don't give ripple rejection and line regulation is not great but perfectly adequate for many applications. 0.2%/V regulation suggests around 40dB rejection. They come in 1, 2 and
3% tolerances.If anyone's interested, here's the URL
Oh, and they're available at AliExpress for about US$0.1 in small quantities.
