Latching address data with D flipflops

Hi, The usual arrangement for latching high order address bits with microcontrollers is to use a latch, like an HC373. Is there any specific reason why D flipflops, clocked from the trailing edge of the address strobe signal, wouldn't do the job? TIA

With D flipflops clocked at the trailing edge, you have the valid address on the bus only at the end of the address strobe, whereas with the latch you have it from the beginning. That can be important for some cases.

Just off the top of my head, aren't '373s D-type latches?

Yes, but they\'re transparent, not edge-triggered.
