One of the things that i continually find ludicrous in movies is infinite digital zoom. It is based on the very real microfine grain of old, old Kodacolor 25 film. In digital photography if the resolution ain't there it will never be there, no computer zooming is possible. Damn on hellywood.

The negative-positive system was Kodacolor.

So did I, up until E4 process came along, and the thing became too critical to be worth it. There was a local professional processing lab who were quite reasonably priced.

Most of my stuff was 2.25" square, with some 5"x 4". Mounting wasn't an issue, since it wasn't for projection.

Making internegatives for printing was fun. I tried reversal paper, but it was crap.

I still prefer B&W, anyway. The world's best pictures (Ansel Adams, Robert Capa, etc) were all B&W.

Ditto movies.

Kodachrome required that the Dye's be in the developing chemicals. A picky temperature dependant process to exchange the film layers with the Dye's. Ektachrome has the Dye's in the film layers, which are removed during developing process. E6 is easy to do at home with very good results.

What's wrong with runway number 5, other than it quite properly should be called zero-five, being a runway running northeast on a magnetic heading of 50 degrees.

What pissed me off more was Elton John going on about an airplanes "red tail lights" when the tail lights on all aircraft are white.

I met Elton briefly. He travels with a retinue of like 30--a heavy load. I can't imagine pulling that train. But, Bernie writes the lyrics--short, cropped hair, solid muscle, steel-grip. Bernie seemed happy; Elton seemed tired.

The Ektachrome dyes were still (latent) in the developer. What did it was the use of "couplers" in each layer, which selectively coupled to the correct colored dye precursor in the developer to produce each color.

AIUI, Kodachrome required three separate second exposures using monochromatic light, whereas Ektachrome just needed one, from a Photoflood lamp.

It was opinion at the time that the couplers influenced grain size, hence Kodachrome had better definition. I was always medium/large format, so it didn't matter that much.

I wonder what the last price of 10" x 8" Ektachrome sheet was?

I stopped processing Ektachrome after E4.

Wasn't it a trademark thing?

According to Wikipedia, LAX only has 06R/06L and 07R/07L, but no 05.

Right. I haven't got it to work very well on the mashed potatoes; they come out sort of like glue. At 6400 feet, I just boil them for an hour.

But Mo makes a delicious chicken stew in the pressure cooker. It cooks for, literally, 90 seconds.
