Is there really a need for a product like this?

Isn't all the approved stuff made in China already? What is this company going to do that would be less expensive?

I'm one of those people who hate having to figure out how to do something like this that I do all the time. I've noticed that every USB connector (is it the A connector on the PC?) is installed with the guide at the top. As a result every plug that goes into it should have the seam in the metal shroud at the bottom. I don't know that this is part of the spec, but I've yet to find an exception.

When the A connector is oriented sideways, all bets are off! Once you find out which way it is in this gadget, hopefully it is consistent.

The front connectors on this Dell Opitplex GX620 SFF rquire the USB logo to be on the bottom & the seam up.

The Gateway DX4200 and Emachines W3118 sitting next to the desk are just the opposite.

Probably not for home use. I can see it its potential in hotels, conference centers, some eateries / coffee shops, and some similar cases.

Those are probably the only places that would pay $30 each for cheap outlets.

If I was outfitting a coffee shop or hotel lobby I'd not use cheap outlets.. I'd use industrial-grade receptacles:

I'd especially avoid anything electronic-- the inevitable repairs would likely involve getting an expensive electrican in, and what if they fry the customer's property?

They'll probably see 10-20x as much cycles as even a heavily used home outlet.

I checked my standard iPAD charger at 2.1A, and wondered if I could run an iPAD and an iPOD from this device, as I know I have been able to run the iPAD from a supply supposedly rated at 1A.

If the ratings are correct on the Jackson, you can't run an iPAD and an iPOD from an outlet rated at 2A. Pretty pictures showing the many devices you can plug in. But it appears you can't plug in two at once unless they are both low current devices.

My findings. Yours may vary.

I used to use 39 cent outlets on workbenches, because so many got smashed. They would last about 10 years, if no one slammed something intro them & broke the bakelight face. I preferred the 20A commercial grade, but techs & engineers would complain that they were too tight. It's no fun to pull out a power lug and leave a pin, or half a wal-wart.

Sounded like a good fit.
