Hi all I am Vikram varshney, student of Delhi College of Engineering. I am working on a project for making a hardwired drive to convert 240V,6A AC to 5V,5mA DC . I am not able to find a proper circuit for the same. Please suggest me any solution of alternative.

With safety isolation from lethal mains voltages ??
If you have no idea what is being asked - then stay the f*ck away from mains powered projects.
** Buy a small 5 volt, SMPS plug pack from China - the kind that look like a mains plug.Take out the PCB and use it in your project.

This must be the new wave of googling electronic engineers. He said he could not "find" a circuit to meet his specification (which is suspect anyway), and apparently has no idea how to actually design one. I was designing circuits years before I even went to college. This guy probably has no real interest in electronics other than it seems to be a lucrative occupation.

Transformer, bridge rectifier, filter cap, 3-pin regulator, output cap, maybe bleed resistor. I can get that answer from a homeless person.....well homeless in Sunnyvale.
** From the 5 mA requirement and the term " hardwired " I get the idea he wants a no transformer solution to a DC supply from the mains.
From his name and bad grammar I get the idea he is a clueless uP programmer.

Oh, I don't know.i figured he needed to supply 5ma. Besides, who would go through the work of an off-line switcher for a 5mA load.
Yep. Just use a capacitive dropper.

Isolation is a good idea. Granted, a transformer solution isn't going to cost pennies.
