Huh??? Got a blank screen. Then again, i am not using InsaneExpletive.
I get "File not found".

You probably have a phantom news server named "news:' set up in your newsreader now. I always got that in Thunderbird when clicking those useless links.
Worked for me, using Netcape 4.78. It is a link to ABSE.

Google doesn't support binary newsgroups, and I doubt their HTML portal would follow a message ID.

The old Netscape news reader could recognize message ID, so, for example, crossposted messages would be marked "Read" if you'd already seen them before on another group. Thunderbird isn't that smart.
I tried it years ago, and didn't like the 'improvements.
