There's nothing particularly "alternative" about natural gas. Gas leaks have been blowing up houses for at least a century now.

That does look huge, they're lucky the whole structure didn't collapse.

It did kill the market for high-rise apartments in the UK for some years.

Stuff built after 1968 was much more carefully tied together.
