He is pushing everybody into EV, killing off Keystone XL and DW drilling in GOM. He is also begging Iran and Saudi for more oil, while stopping domestic productions.

The influence on Iran and Saudi Arabia is to deal with the short term problem posed by Russia's enthusiasm for invading it's neighbours.

The move to electric vehicles and decrease long term oil extraction is to deal with - or at least to slow down - anthropogenic global warming.

It's going to take a while before we can invest enough in renewable electricity generation to let us start reducing the amount of fossil carbon we burn for fuel.

Some that investment is going to be in a different grid to distribute electricity from where it is going to be generated in future, and some of it ins in the grid scale batteries to cope with the short term variations in renewable output.

It's a fairly complicated scenario, and not everybody seems to understand what is going on - some of the people who post here don't even understand why it is necessary.

We understand it's necessary, but broken chargers every 50 miles won't help. As one driver put it mildly, the charging infrastructure is just "pathetic".

Yeah, if you depend on second tier charging networks, that's what you get. I don't have that problem with my car. The Tesla network seems to work pretty well.

If you can find gas stations to fuel it. When BEVs become 90% of the cars on the roads, 90% of gas stations will have closed.

But that's not what Biden, or anyone else said. This is Larkin's misconception of what people say. By 2035 all cars sold in the US will be BEV. There will still be many, many running on the roads then. Larkin knows that. But he's the sort that likes to distort what others say, so he can criticize and ridicule.

Yes, Tesla has L2 charging at Primm. It's just a problem for every other EV, until the DCFC working at EA and EvGo stations.

I got plans: Plan A: tap in high voltage transformer at future EA station, next to Tesla. Plan B: bring several portable batteries in my luggage. Charge my luggage at the hotel/casino next to the slot machines. Cost: +/- 100 bucks, depending on my luck, Plan GG: Gas Generator gets around 10 miles per gallon, burning on top of the world. Plan AAA: tow it.

Barstow, Baker, Primm, Las Vegas (multiple). Tesla has been busy. They are about 50 miles apart. But that still might not be close enough for your POS that should never be taken on trips.

Solar cells and wind turbines? They are the cheapest sources. You have to instal more generating capacity than you need to cover the period when the wind isn't blowing all that hard and the are clouds passing in front of the sun, but they are still the cheapest sources even after you've allowed for that.
