forum questions

I am curious about this forum and have a few questions:

1) Is there a place that I can share files/pictures on this forum?

2) Can you set to get an email alert of just your messages?

3) Is there any form of text formatting, bold, colours etc?

Some people will suggest one of the binary image usenet groups, but this archaic and not everyone can access it. Best to use your own website/web space or one of the free ones available.

There may be a way to do that using some third party program, but the general answer is no. This is not an email access group like say Yahoo groups. People generally use usenet reader programs to access it.

No, this is a USENET forum.

You just happen to be using Google Groups to access it. This is not an actual Google Group, so does not have the fancy features found with those groups. Some people use ASCII ART to draw simple diagrams and things.

Should you choose to access the newsnet or usenet, using your mail handler, web browser or a specific program (Forte Agent is popular), the news group you are currently posting to is 'sci.electronics.design'.

Most news handlers have filtering or notification facilities designed to help wade through the trash. AV protection is required, as per web browsing. Don't post your primary e-mail address in clear text, or it will be harvested for spam distribution.

Access to news servers through your local isp is a no-cost service, similar to mail service and as such offers no warranties or performance guarantees re missing messages or down time........ but then neither does Google Groups.

Images and pdfs are conventionally posted to 'alt.binaries.schematics.electronic', for recovery and discussion by other news readers.

1) Sometimes ltspice text files are posted here. Cut and paste for a schematic. I also make links to my website and do ascii art. 2) I don't do that. I watch for my posts but also respond to other topics that catch my attention. If you get religious with usenet, you can do "Help others as others helped you." and contribute to it's richness. However, one's posted mistakes, goofs and bad suggestions can be on the net confusing people forever all around the world. :) 3) None..

As mentioned, "Usenet newsgroup" not "forum".

Here is a tool for ASCII art:

Usenet groups which don't have *binary* or *binaries* in their names are for plain-text posting only.

At the 25% mark on that page is a demonstration of several ways to emphasize points using only plain text. ("can be expressed _in_ *other* WAYS that are /universally/ readable")
