F4, not working in LTSpice

Aug 08, 2015 11 Replies

I recently did a reinstall of LTSpice on a new machine, and for some reason the F4 and F9 hotkeys are not working. Hitting F9 from within the program actually causes the Windows 8.1 search sidebar to pop up.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

Probably being intercepted by Windows. Try looking in whatever exciting new method MS put in to replace Control Panel. ;)

Failing that, you can set the keyboard up in LTspice.

Yep. Long ago I used MacroExpress to rid myself of the annoyances of pull-down menus in PSpice. LTspice allows you to directly set hot-keys in the Control Panel/Drafting Options/Hot Keys section... so I set most of them to be the same as in PSpice ;-) ...Jim Thompson

I just got this a few days ago and it's already bugging me to upgrade to Windows 10.

I think I'm going to try to use Linux more.

On my Win7 laptop, I got rid of the W10 nag screens by compiling the following C program,

/* justexit.c */

int main(void) { return 0; }

and copying the resulting executable over top of all the executables in c:\windows\system32\GWX. (For "get windows 10", geddit?)

That is, GWX.exe, GWXConfigManager.exe, GWXDetector.exe, GWXUX.exe, and GWXUXWorker.exe.

Now all that happens is that two console windows flicker in and out of existence when I open the lid.

I presume you mean by "copying the resulting executable over top of all the executables" you mean you replaced the contents of each GWX*.exe with your compilation? ...Jim Thompson

Just uninstall KB3035583, and hide the update so it does not get listed in the updates again.

What does "hide the update" mean? ...Jim Thompson

Mine still is offering to upgrade to Windows 8.1.

If you Right click on the update, you can select to HIDE it so that it does not list it again. It stays unchecked and is not installed.

So uninstall doesn't remove the Update from the list? ...Jim Thompson

Right, it will always be listed. But you can hide it to ignore it. Like I hide Skype, I dont need it and it always pops up to be setup. So I uninstalled it and selected to hide it so it does not show.
