Does Bill Gates Have a Hot Wife

Dec 22, 2006 30 Replies

I have an electronics and social behaviour question... I'm wondering if electronic designers often don't get the hotties? It's a cliche movie item..The geeks and the hot chicks..

Take Bill Gates..(Software I know.but still techy)..Richest guy in the world..Did he get the trophie wife? Some time ago while waiting for simulation results, I googled for a picture of Bill and his wife...No luck...

Do engineers get a wife posing in say..Cosmo magazine or is it more likely to be Home@Garden magazine?

Then I caught an article about Silicone Valley running low on women due to male dominated professions.. Imagine an engineer dialing up an escort and ending up on a 2 month waiting list. :) Those guys in Silicone Valley are probably settling for anything.. Maybe that 300 pound woman with the upper lip hair is starting to look good..

Just WTH is "Silicone Valley"?

The space between those "enhanced" boobs of course.

Not to be confused with "Silicon Valley" where the venture capital con artists are.

Aren't both valleys full of con artists? Or was that strippers. I forget. ;-)

Engineers don't get the hotties, we get the really good women. Hotties tend to wear out fast.

His wife looks nice but she's no trophy. She *is* smart, a former Microsoft employee. She's clearly too good for him, but then most women are too good for their men.

Learn to use google. This was my very first hit:

Silicon. And there are plenty of women in SV. Even better, most of the good universities are now majority female.

Hard to imagine an engineer dialing up an escort at all. I never have.

Rubbish. There's a type of woman who likes engineers, and they tend to be excellent.

Got a good laugh though.. :) ..Silicon e

I think I've created a unique post..Although non-technical..I'm curious if it'll turn into a hot topic..

I do think about the social, philosophical and psychological aspects of electronics design.

Might be better than a post on basic zener diode applications.

Those are very important and seldom-discussed issues. Most engineers don't like to think about where ideas come from, so don't consciously train themselves to be good at it.

But Bill Gates isn't an electronics designer; he's a bad programmer.

Dave :)

Amused me that with Bill's fixation on Windows he married someone called French.

Regards Ian

Of course. He's a vicious sociopath who will buy, steal, or copy anything. People like thet often do well in business.

No evidence of obesity or facial hair there! She looks nice; most engineers' wives are nice.

My experience (both myself and other engineers I know) is that engineers seem to do unusually well at romance. That's sort of remarkable, considering how emotionally obtuse most of us are. I guess lots of women want oblivious guys who don't whine and who can fix things.

"Women have no use for engineers except to marry them." Well, not exactly, but something like that.

John

I think it's that engineers can love their wife more than they love themselves.

Good point. Engineers, at least real engineers, tend to not think a lot about themselves (the opposite of neurotic, artistic types) and mostly want to build things and make them work right. That tends to make us good mates and, not incidentally, good lovers.

But Mo has finished feeding the bird and is going to take me to Tygers. I can hear that pancake sandwich calling from clear down the hill. Bacon or sausage, the eternal dilemma.

John

Have one of each. Problem solved!

The special was sausage gravy on toast with a fried egg on top, and home fries. Couldn't pass that up! Sausage gravy is (I think) a pecularily American (maybe Texan?) thing. It looks like goat barf and tastes great.

When the check came, I noticed that the waitress had written up my order as SOS/OE

s*it-on-shingle/over-easy... that's a language we country boys understand ;-)
