Daft installations youv'e had to fix

Reminds me of A Kenian driver who used Nigerian beer in the brake system of his car to save a buck (don't do this!). Asked why he used Nigerian beer and not a domestic brand: "It brakes better."

I had a brief temp job at Kennedy Space Center helping out a site engineer with their lightning detection system; mostly just building cables and dressing harnesses. The shack was out in the piney woods where the traffic hazards were feral pigs and alligators, with little armadillos and baby alligators practically underfoot.

I learned to stay away from the microwave tower early on, after the engineer pointed out the buzzards and the mess they leave behind. Ugh. Every buzzard in Brevard County roosted there at night.

Got a neat tour of the assembly building where the space station modules were being fitted out for launch, and lot of other space launch hardware laying about. "Don't touch that!"

I have seen water build up in conduit that ran from a rain proof outdoor box to inside a building. The temperature differences would make parts of the conduit drop below the dew point. The water would run to the lowest spot which happened to be in the airconditioned area where it was kept cooler than outdoors.
