I get a Social Security check every month, for being "retired", even though I still have a regular job. And of course I pay state and federal income tax on both the SS payment and on my salary and on everything else. And I (and my employer) keep making payments into the SS system!
I have an expensive accounting firm do my taxes every year. The paperwork is a stack about 2" thick.

I've been around for almost 80 years and over the years they say eggs a b ad for you. Then they say the latest research has shown that eggs are good for y ou. As time passes we go from one fad to another not knowing the real truth if s uch a thing even exists.
I was speaking with an ER doctor during a followup a few days after getti ng two layers of stitches on a severe cut on my hand. He was surprised at how mu ch better it looked. I asked him If he thought that one's attitude had anyth ing to do with it. He said "Hell yes it does." He told me that he had often wond ered why 20% of the people had 80% of the illness.
Conservatives seem to be better at thinking for themselves than the left who believe what they are told what to think.

Curse and shriek? Hardly. And take note. It is ONLY ASSHOLES that have pulled s*it on me in the past. So if you "suddenly" see it, think back to the history that preson has for attacking me. When I refer to you as a piece of s*it, it is not always based on your current stupid argument. It is based on your decades long retarded uncivil attitude towards me. Just because you like to make a veiled insult does not make me a bad person because I openly insult you back without regard for how it may or may not appear as 'crude' to a retarded putz like you. I do not need to get 'clever' when I refer to the stench in the room.
And it has nothing to do with weed. Damn! You are a putz, boy!

Interesting. When I was ca 9 years I was somewhat anemic. Old army. now f amily. Doc told me I needed to eat a piece of red meat the size of my hand every day.
Over the years I keep track of my protein intake. I wonder if a lot of pe ople really get enough. I check the labels on canned food and mostly its not v ery much. Just a few grams at the most.
Back in the '30s there were papers written about the loss of important mi nerals in the farm land and that it was a serious threat to peoples health in t he long term. IIRC. Is this still a problem? What about all of our imported food? Can you really trust just anybody to tell you the truth?
Then there's possible toxins in the food and the FDA's safety reports are likely paid for the by highest bidder. I've been a member of some purebred dog fancy groups for years. Some were devoted to canine nutrition. There were some very smart people and a few vets there. I found out that most commercial dog f ood is pure crap except maybe for the essential nutrients. I had one lady, who h ad worked for a pet food company, tell me that their food was inspected by t he government like they claimed. She also told me that they said nothing abo ut it was declared to be unfit for human consumption.
I wonder if they are honest and independent analytical labs where we coul d get our food analyzed to find out what was really going on for a reasonable c ost. What would it take for an individual to have an adequate mass spectromete r and the ability to use it? How do we really know that our city water is safe?

It's an old joke, almost certainly made by the kind of right-wing political commentator who shapes his narrative to appeal to people like John Larkin.

It's not a well-constructed book, and not one that you should read in isola tion.
The individual facts present may not be wrong, but the order of presentatio n seems to be designed to make high speed digital design look like black ma gic, where a more competent exposition could have brought out the science u nderlying the points you need to attend too.
Win Hill liked it when he first read it, which prompted me to buy it. It's probably worst investment I ever made.

Not as sad as John Larkin, whose advice isn't all that great either.
At least I have been known to realise that I've got stuff wrong, which John Larkin can't manage.

Conservatives like to think this, in as far as they bother to think.
Working on the principle that "the way things are has to be close to optimal" does economise on intellectual effort.

In NT's ever-so-expert opinion. Anybody who thinks that Cursitor Doom's opinions are ever well-founded has to be a pretty pathological case, and NT is more pathological than most - pretty much down to the krw level.

Then your check should go up every year.
And high cholesterol is not what you eat, it is what you do not eat. that d oes depend on heredity but there are some things out there that are not foo d. Sugar, regular table salt, hydrogenated anything. And you probably never had a taste of vinegar, get use to it, it eats the cholesterol right out y our body. You can drink pickle juice if you want but that is alot of salt a nd some people can't have that. I can eat a pound of salt a day and my BP s tays low, but then I drink not only the pickle juice but also from the jars of hot peppers, olives, whatever. No soda, my carbonated drink had no suga r and very little sweetener in it, I can't stand Coke or Pepsi anymore. I a lso drink a vegetable juice I found slightly better than V8. I eat a salad almost every day or at least a piece of fruit. And I do most of my own cook ing, and without a book.
I never get colds or infections, or any actual diseases now that I think of it.
I am sure part of it is hereditary but part of it is what I eat.
