Black Americans are fired up and flocking to the polls

Sure, but such a state was going to be Dem anyhow.

A small state has no incentive to sign up for a popular-vote compact. A swing state neither.

So California can agree to assign all its electors to the popular vote winner, and then maybe be forced to have them all vote for a Republican president. That would sure be fun. Yet another short-term idea that can backfire, like eliminating the filibuster for supreme court votes.

It's a silly thought for a state to think it has more influence on the elec tion under a popular vote. Right now all the power is in a handful of stat es. Small and large states alike have little influence in the election bec ause they have a sizable majority of votes on one side. This completely di senfranchises those supporting the minority in that state REGARDLESS of siz e.

The majority of citizens in this country feel this is wrong and the elector al college should be abolished in favor of a popular vote. Yes, it's a lon g row to hoe to get agreement on how to do this, but we need to clean out t he swamp to get it started and that is what this election will be doing sta rting with the biggest and fattest swamp dweller of all.
