6V to 12 volt@1Amp converter using MC34063

Mar 29, 2006 9 Replies

I am trying to desing a ckt which boost 6V to12V and can provide 1A current. MC34063 Chip cannot directly give large currents so we have to use external booster. I am looking for that topology.

Thanks

The application note might be worth a look.

It's all in the ST data sheet and

Interesting page. Pity that it uses an external FET for a 10mA output.

How about this?

I have gone through datasheet what i want is given on page 9/16 with title: Step-Up With External NPN Switch But information is not complete Which transistor to use will BD139 do What is value of resistor connected to base of external npn will 3.3K enough what about other parameters will they change or we have to used as it is

this file does not allow u to go beyond 300mA@12 from 5V as Ipk becomes greater then 1.5A

I wonder where you get a 100 uH capacitor. ;-)

Cheers! Rich

I once needed a 5000 *ohm* capacitor. I removed it from the HV section of my Tek 485 'scope, and mysteriously the formerly non-working 'scope came to life. I asked my electronics "guru" about it and he said something about the capacitor taking a leak or something like that. He's the one who told me that I needed to put the 5000 ohm cap into my trash can.

For the 100 uH capacitor, I guess you have to contact the manufacturer. I thing the datasheet indicated they are available from Typical Input, but it did not provide address, phone #, or url.

In honor of tomorrow. :-)

thanks due for your cool software it is really nice for beginners
