The power supply is a separate device for supplying power to external counter modules.
As there's no problem with the component in question it will stay in it's place and the riddle unsolved.

Doubtful. The OP's pic has a definite 2 in a circle with an additional '1' or 'I' vertical outside.
The Nihon Inter Electronics logo is the letters NI with a circle around them.
Yes an N can look like a sideways 2 if you squint hard enough, but the two logos are visually quite distinct.

41C121A2 is the 'Sprague OEM part no', and the 'Sprague Products Cat. No.' is 30GA-S10.Page 53, dating from 1963:

Maybe, or maybe there was some different T&C for using an OEM marked part. eg you got some different level of testing or different terms of supply or something?
