I have an SMD transistor, it might have been a dual pack transistor, im not sure what it is.
anyone have a cross referance? its an SMD 8-pin chip. marked "4501"
any ideas? thanks.

Is it a normal SO-8 or is it a powerpak (SO8 with a big chunk of metal on the underside)?
Cheers

normal.
It might help to tell us the package size (SOT...) and/or number of pins.
LOL read closer. the number of pins are shown. its a standard run of the mill SMD chip that looks like a 24C04 or something.
Many SMD devices have fairly unhelpful markings !
It's not a CD4501 - wrong number of pins.
If you have some idea of its function it would help

i don tknow i think its a transistor. becuase legs 5 through 8 go to positive.
ive seen them in SMPS converters on dell motherboards too.
Might be a single MOSFET. Pins 5-8 for the drain is a common pinout.

not sure. would be nice to have a pinout so i could wire in a standard mosfet.
I'll bet it's this:
Does it have a logo on it?
yaep i think that might be it. its powers a PWM circuit on the motherboard.
no it has no logo. just "4501" and a datecode.
