Hi Rune, You could try modulating it to get shades of RGB. Just out of curiosity, whats the pixel size?

Since this is a _passive_ matrix color LCD, using shades does not make much sense. The colors are not that clear and stable as on a TFT. ALso, colors heavily depend on the ambient temperature and on the viewing angle.

While this is all true, it is perhaps worth pointing out that it *is* common for LCD controllers to implement multiple colour "shades" by modulation of the pixels.

There are only 8 colors. Anyone who tells you that there are more is probably female.

Just remember to keep the refresh rate above 25Hz or so. Otherwise the flicker will be annoying.

PC displays dither the pixels. Consider your triads in groups of four, which you could call a "super-pixel". Then you could haven in effect 15 levels of each color (plus off, of course). (you could do it with 2x, 3x, or whatever).

They've been doing that on PCs for years. :-)
