Hope this message finds each of you well.
Several years ago I purchased a chip at a hamfest that at the time seemed promising, but need some information, please.
It's got a small rectangular window in which appears to be two rows of contacts, seven or eight on a side. The manufacturer is Sharp and the ID is: PTO 32A.

FWIW, it's a PT032A (zero, not oh).
A window would suggest an EPROM, but a pin count of only 16 (?) would seem rather low.

I'm a bit surprised anyone replied to this. If you did not receive a datasheet or any other information on the part, then for what application could it possibly have seemed promising, except perhaps jewelry?
I think it is an image sensor of some sort, possibly from a handy- scanner, but that is an educated guess.
If you post photos of the part someone might be able to make a better guess at what it is, but do you really want to waste the effort to build something around an exquisitely obscure part of which you will never see another sample?
