48ma transceivers that convert 3.3V to 5V ???

I've a VME design that has a Altera Stratix part that handles the VME interface. The Stratix is NOT a 5V tolerant part and I'm having a devil of a time finding a transceiver that will supports

3.3V on one side and 5V on the other side (48ma side).

Does anyone know of a transceiver that will do this? I've looked all over and I'll be darned if I can find one. I've seen some nice 24ma ones, but none that will source 48ma's.

Any ideals ???

How about SN74LVT16500 from TI? This is 3.3 volt powered, 5 volt tolerant and will sink 64 mA and source 32 mA. Do you really need a 48 mA *source*? That would be in the high state. Most drivers sink harder than they drive.

I am sure there are 3.3 volt interface VME devices out there. Did you look on the TI, Philips and other web sites for VME interface chips? VME has higher than typical drive/sink requirements so that some special parts have been designed IIRC.

Oops, should have written sink instead of source :)

I can't use a 5V tolerant part, it has to drive 5V as per the VME spec.

I looked all over the TI site and only found 24ma/24ma transceivers. Just after I posted I looked at Philips and found one that would work. Has a seperate supply voltage for each side of the transceiver.

My last VME design was 6 years ago, was hoping to never see a VME design again...

Thanks for the reply!!!
