Whatzit?

I'm tracing a PCB and came upon a 18-pin DIL (thru-hole) marked...

I doubt it's Motorola, since "DW" in Moto-speak means wide SOIC, not thru-hole.

Probably proprietary.

If it's just the IR thing wouldn't it be simple enough to scope it and figure it out? I mean do they do anything with the IR signal beyond simple modulation?

This is a pair I was going to hack, but they're Genie brand, and my opener is Liftmaster.

So I ordered two pair of the Liftmaster variety, and will hack my circuit to match the Liftmaster signal.

What is surprising is the lack of much in the way of patents... proprietary ASIC's ??? ...Jim Thompson
