IRLP daughterboard

I've been pondering an IRLP (or PLRI) daughterboard for the Pi. As some of you may already know, the standard V3 IRLP board can be attached with a ribbon cable connecting to the P1 header. Then you attach a USB sound card to a USB port. What I propose to do is have a daughterboard plug directly into P1, add a line for DTMF strobe (so D can be decoded), and maybe add an RTC.

Has anyone else considered building something like this?

Plenty of cards have been done with direct connection, some have RTC on some have had them wired onto add-on boards, all of this is possible

Most use the 3M 26 way PCB mount vertical socket connector for keeping above other connectors
