This (or these?) was used in the General Radio 1232-A tuned amplifier. The holder is a cylindrical tube and the battery or cells are slid into it to contact a strip for + on one end......pretty much similar looking to what would take D-cell's except only slightly smaller O.D. Cylindrical tube appears to be 1.25 I.D. x 7" long (Batteries would occupy approx 6.5" of that...spring and rear cover the rest).
The only indicator of what they were is "M72 CELLS" on the cover (Mallory?) Nothing found in my Google searches, online cross-references, or in catalogues I have back into the mid 70's.
Any help appreciated - Thanks
