Toshiba TV 27AF41, ch TAC0114 Won't Turn On

Hi,

I have a Toshiba TV 27AF41, ch TAC0114 (mfg 12/01) (Photofact 4577) in my shop. I don't have SM. When you try to turn on the TV, it goes on for a fraction of a second then off. Then the front panel LED starts blinking. I was able to see (scope) a flyback pulse briefly (used a loop around FBT core), but I didn't have a good view of the pulse condition. I plugged the TV into a 90 VAC source, but the results were the same. Note: My customer said this problem wasn't caused by a storm. He said, "the TV was turned off, then the next time someone tried to turn it on, it wouldn't go on."

Did you have the same type of problem with this model TV?

Thanks in advance, Brad

Before you type your password, credit card number, etc., be sure there is no active key logger (spyware) in your PC.

Does the tv use an SMPS supply? If yes, it does not matter what VAC you plug the tv into. If the SMPS has lost regulation due to a storm damaged component in the feedback circuit, the tv still is probably going into protect shutdown.

Just use standard power supply and deflection troubleshooting techniques for a tv set.
