Sony KV-32HS500 Flyback wires, (I would hate to mess this up).

I just replaced the two MCZ3001 IC's on the deflection board with the updated DB's. I reinstalled the board and am embarrased to say that I neglected to notice the exact placement of the flyback wires. The second anode is reinstalled of course but the there is one red and one white wire out of the flyback. One of these wires went to the CRT socket and the other went to a small jack on the CRT board marked CN9009. The insulation on the red wire is slightly thicker so I would imagine that this goes to the CRT socket and the white wire would then go to jack CN9009. The only problem I'm having with this is that the CRT socket of course is white and jack CN9009 is red, so logic would suggest that its the other way around. I really don't want to blow this thing up so can someone please help to clear this up for me? Thanks, Lenny.


Isolate the two wires away from anything, and measure them both to the CRT dag with an HV probe. One is focus, and should read about 6KV. This will go into the CRT socket. The other probably won't register on the HV probe, so read this one with a DMM if it doesn't. It will read either 350 to 450 volts if it's G2, or zero. Follow the CN9009 connector and see if it ends up at the G2 pin on the CRT, or ground. Either way, the wire showing low\\no voltage will go to the red connector.

On the off hand chance that the red wire was at the bottom of the focus screen divider, or more interestingly was supposed to go to ground, (I can't imagine how it would though), I would imagine that disconnecting it might put both the red and white wires at second anode potential. Could that make the HV rise to a point where shut down might occur? Lenny.

If you look at the top of the flyback you will notice one wire recepticle is higher than the other. This is for the red (focus) wire. The white one goes in the other. Done a couple like this lately, having had to swap out boards.

Thanks Mark Thats exactly what I did and the heavier wire was the focus wire. It just made sense but I wasn't thinking at the time. Lenny.
