The customer says that the set "comes on predominently blue, led flashes 8 times and then the TV shuts down". He has the service manual and he apparently looked this up and he says that it mentions "an HV transformer problem". I was thinking more like the splitter because I figured that if the transformer was bad then why would he initially get only one color and then shut down? Can anyone offer a more educated guess on this than I can? Thanks, Lenny.

These sets have been known for shorted CRTs, but they usually give a 5 blink, IIRC. I guess you could have one pulling the HV down. HV divider is more common than the transformer, IME.
