running 50hz motor on 60hz

Sorry if I double posted. I am not sure the first post got through.

Can I run this pump on 60 hz with/without a converter. If I need a converter, would you know about how much one would cost and where I could get one?

I would appreciate your help.

Thank in advance for your help. Preston

There are so many vacuum pumps and compressors available on eBay that it's not worth taking the risk. It would run at approximately

6/5ths the speed but with less torque. You'll also need 230 VAC instead of 115 VAC.

Ask the manufacturer. But the fact that it doesn't list 50/60 Hz on the nameplate may indicate that they don't recommend it at least.

Forget about a convertor, you can buy a dozen pumps for the cost of a frequency converter. :)

If it were something other than a pump I'd suggest you just use it at 60 HZ. The motor will run at a higher speed. But you'll also lose some torque, and in pump applications that might be important.
