Hello all, I tried searching previous posts and didn't find a solution. I have a playstation 2 (Version 4) that was getting Disk Read Errors. I adjusted the angle of the lense and cleaned out the case and it started working again.. but for a VERY short period of time. So I opened the case back up and figured the angle might have reset itself... but this time NO position would load a game. I got one position to identify the disc and open to the menu of the game, but no furthur.
I then attempted to clean the laser with rubbing alcohol. Then I greased the tracks making sure not to spill oil on anything. Now when I put a disc in, it won't even rotate the disc a 1/4 of a turn, then stops. The laser pops up and down, but doesn't move across the track to seek. I don't see any visible red light when I tried putting my hand over the laser at bootup.
What are the possibilities? I'd like to narrow it down to fix it as cheap as possible. It is a Sony laser model 400B.. the ribbon to the laser looks a little odd but I can't tell if it is damaged. If the ribon is bad would that cause these symptoms? Thanks!
