Need Data Sheet for CD Player Controller IC

I'm working on an Emerson Research Clock radio with a CD player. The CD player is intermittent, seems that it crashes when trying to start sometimes. I cannont find service info for this unit so the next bext thing is a data sheet for CD controller IC. The CD plater has a TDA7473 driver, a 1458 opamp and a large controller IC which talks by serial dat (I2C??) to the main uC.

My question...

what are the part numbers for some popular CD player controller ICs? This controller is embedded into the PWB and covered with black epoxy..looks like about 40 pins...

I'll look up the data sheets and app notes for them as an alternative to service info for this thing...

You really need the factory service manualto check alignments and setups. You will also need their recomended tools.

These sets are normaly serviced at the modular level unless the problem is very simple.

The only practical thing you can do, is to check for loose connections. Make sure the laser is clean, and the mechanics are not jamming.

One main cause of this type of failure is the ribbon cables, and the laser going weak.

When considering the labour and parts cost, your player is not worth seervicing.

As for embeded components, the service approach is obvious.

After warrenty, these units are considered disposable.
