You need to start with the power supply section. As you work on electronic equipment, that should be fairly intuitive to you. As it's completely dead, I would guess that the power supply's chopper transistor or switching regulator IC isn't getting any supply, or the pwm IC's 'startup' resistor is open. Could also be an open emitter/source resistor on the chopper transistor/FET, caused by the latter being shorted, or a dead pwm IC. Check any components in the mains supply, ie internal fuses, soft-start thermistors (if any), chokes, solder joints, power resistors, broken tracks etc. Also check the blindingly obvious what many people overlook- the mains lead and socket, and if the monitor has one- the mains switch!

If there's a Power Mosfet at the back of the board, check to see if it's shorted. In the 15" model, just removing it restored the monitor, but it should be replaced.
