JVC R-X500 receiver tip and question alt. ref: R-X500B RX500 RX500B R 500 R 500B

Tip;

Look for damage wherever glue was used. This set had the wires in a couple of ribbon cables eaten away where they were glued to the PCB's

Question;

Also the glue damaged a zener diode and ate away the identification markings on it. To make matters worse, the bugger was shorted so I couldn't measure the zener voltage. From what I could see, there was a "1" and also the bottom part of either a 6. 8, 3 or 0, so it was probably a 10, 13, 16, or 18V zener

The set is working with a 16V zener in there now, but I'd like to stick to the original value if anyone knows or can look it up for me.

Any help will be truly appreciated. Thanks

Doh! I got so flustered with ISP problems that I forgot to mention the location of the zener that I need to ID.

The silkscreen is a bit damaged, but as best I kin tell, the location of the zener is D851 and it is fed power from a 1.8K resistor R856 and is part of the regulator circuit for transistors Q856 & Q851

Thanks again Dave Moore
