Usually when written like this, there is an implied '2' in front, ie 2N1215.

If 1995 unlikely Ge 2N1215 Could it be a Russian Cyrillic "N" ? Definitely low power transistor casing ? eg < 1A

definitely low power, looks like japanese, all other components in the car radio are japanese. Might be a RN1215 but I wasn't able to find a datasheet to confirm.

If the case style is the flattish one with a chamfer face at the top , it was a popular style for Russian made transistors. Can there be a worn off character before the N ?

And no, no possible other characters, the case is clean, the marking very sharp and the code begins right on the edge of the case. There's a dot under the N, not sure if it helps. I can also send a picture if it helps. Regards

RN1215 should be eline case, but with internal base R would explain apparent o/c on diode test

curioser and curioser. Exceedingly subtle, if a variant of drop the L from LA... , LB, LC ICs and the mu from uPD... NEC, 2S from 2SA..... etc

I have the pic and can send to anyone, just contact me via email. I wouldn't know where tu put it anyway. Looks like it's likely an RN1215 but without a datasheet it's kind of difficult to guess the resistor value just for example.

How about a UN1215? It has an internal 10K base resistor.

Thats presumably the one. Now does Panasonic/Matsushita use the dot code for other dropped letters on SMD/small items, say MN.... ?

The free one I use a lot of is

you can put odd pics on there without having thenm associated with a text file and others can view such isolated pics, not the case with all such hosting sites (remote linking).

It would be useful, if indeed Panasonic, for the font style of the lettering, relative dot position etc
