ford car stereo

The stereo in my car works for a short period of time and then a high frequency scream occurs and then no sound at all. Could this be caused by the circuit grounding out or would the stereo itself need to be replaced.

Replace the unit. Chrysler units on some Dodge Ram's also did that. maybe they used the same inners. I think many of the stock radio's in car's now days use a basic dense processor chip that handles most of all the commonly wanted functions. This chip can be programmed to suit the needs of the model.

Lucky You. Why didn't you replace it as soon as you got the car?

Why people put up with poor sounding car audio is beyond me.

Usually, the factory stereo is in my dash for about 2 days tops, even in a new car.
