If I bought an LCD TV, would there be a way to capture the output from it to a PC hard disk, sort of like Tivo?
I don't want to pay the monthly fee for Tivo. Thanks for any help.

Recording has nothing to do with the TV, whether LCD or any other type. You have to record *before* the TV.
Plenty of DVR solutions besides TiVo, some of which are free. There's better forums for that sort of thing.
**If the TV has a line output, then yes.
**There are much better ways of doing what you want to do.

Why not buy a TV card for the PC? They're cheap enough. The software with mine gives most of the features of a 'proper' PVR. Or simply buy a PVR - they don't have a monthly fee and are getting pretty cheap.

You can buy an inexpensive card to capture video to your PC hard disk and play it back later.
Not quite the right group for this research: have a look in rec.video.desktop and/or alt.video.digital-tv.
Search for "Hauppauge WinTV" or "PVR" to get started.
What abt buying a DVD recorder with digital tuner in it and using that as a "VCR"?
